And a blog was born...

At long last....comes forth the ever gestating blog....entreating friends and general sunday afternoon boredom have provided the impetus to start off my blog at last....

Now is it going to be the start of million dollar signing bonuses and sales (Just kidding!!!)

Now that the dam has broken, let me start with the activities of this weekend - had a start to the weekend with a sushi dinner at Wildfish in downtown Arlington Heights with a friend. Have to say the presentation of the food was awesome and I have pictures on my RAZR2 to prove it (once I figure out how to upload it to my laptop). I had ordered the asparagus beef as an appetiser in teriyaki sauce which I thought was very good. My friend had ordered edamame beans which for a first time try was a great experience for me. My entree was a spicy tuna sushi plate which was a combination of tuna, shrimp and asparagus rolled into maki rolls basted with spicy mayo and it was very good. My dinner companion ordered the shrimp rolls and tempura. The tempura was oily as expected but good but the shrimp rolls left a lot to desire. Another disappointment was the green jasmine tea turned out to be a tea bag in hot water. Saturday was a relaxed early dinner at 5.30pm at Penang Algonquijn Road, Arlington Heights with Pallavi which is always great food - appetisers that were a standard for us - Roti Canai (not to be ever missed), Chicken Satay which is probably the best I have ever had and a pickled salad that was like eating indian pickled veggies. The hostess recommended Curry Prawn entree that we both had turned out to be a disappointment mainly because the prawns werent cooked as much as I like them but overall its combination with coconut rice it was still better than many places. After dinner we went off to meet more friends in the city (Gold coast) to catch the lights go off from 8-9pm for Earth Hour. The view from Deepa's 24th floor apartment was breathtaking but the so called lights off was non existent. We then met up with a 4th accomplice Laurie and went to the martini park for drinks and then to Laloo's for dinner. My review of Martini Park can be read at http://www.yelp.com/biz/martini-park-chicago. The evening was loads of fun with us making enough noise, catching up and having a blast. Think we need to make it a monthly tradition.Thats all for this weekend...Au revoir....
